Welcome to The smART Room Studio

Homeschool Art Classes for Kids and Teens

The smART Room Studio offers group and private art classes for kids, teens, and adults living in Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and the surrounding areas. A majority of our students are homeschooled and take weekly group or private art classes to fulfill their required academic electives. To get started, start an application or book a studio tour.

Homeschool Art Curriculum

Our homeschool art classes balance hands-on projects with the study of artists, art history, and different cultures, enabling students to fully understand their medium and methods. The art curriculum that students will follow in our private and group classes is based on their grade level and experience.

Elementary School (K-5)

In the elementary art classes, students build confidence in their creativity and develop fine motor skills through exciting projects.

Middle School
(6-8)

The middle school curriculum is designed to help students build their skills in the elements of art and the principles of design.

High School
(9-12)

The high school classes give students the chance to explore specialized techniques and different materials to discover their personal style.

Private Art Classes for Kids, Teens, and Adults

In addition to homeschool art classes held during the school year, we also offer private lessons for kids, teens, and adults. Please go to our private lessons page for more details.

Teen Portfolio DevelopmentĀ

In these individual sessions, teens can work on their portfolio and get professional feedback.

One-on-One
Art Lessons

In these private, individual classes, students can strengthen their abilities in their chosen art material.

Summer
Camps

We offer day classes during the summer. The 2021 schedule will be available in early Spring of 2021.

About Us

Our classes are taught at a private home studio by professional artist and licensed teacher Bonnie Brunner. In the art classes, Bonnie works one-on-one with students to build confidence in their creative abilities through projects in art mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, and more.

As of February 2020, we are following COVID best practices. For the foreseeable future, students may choose to attend our classes in-person or attend remotely via Zoom.
